On Tuesday, May 22nd, the Historic Preservation League of Oregon announced the 2012 list of Oregon's Most Endangered Places to an audience of 100 friends of preservation at the University Club of Portland. In addition to remarks from Congressman Earl Blumenauer, HPLO executive director Peggy Moretti provided an overview of the successful efforts that have been made on behalf of the 2011 list. After a year worth of strategic assistance to those properties, the HPLO will move forward with supporting preservation efforts for a list of nine properties in 2012.
Without further ado, the 2012 list of Oregon's Most Endangered Places is as follows:
Jantzen Beach Carousel - Portland
Ice House - Eagle Point
Uppertown Net Loft- Astoria
Skidmore/Old Town Historic District - Portland
Rivoli Theater - Pendleton
Rosemont Farm Smokehouse - Yamhill
St. Francis Hotel - Albany
View Point Inn - Corbett
Willamette Falls Locks - West Linn
In the weeks ahead, the HPLO will be meeting with owners and stakeholders from each of the nine places to assess needs and begin charting a preservation plan for each property. Stay tuned to our blog, Facebook page, and the individual Most Endangered Place webpages for updates on the progress being made on each place. If you were unable to join us at the announcement, but would like to show your support for preserving these valuable places, contact the HPLO office or consider showing your love for preservation by donating to the effort.
Thanks to Drew Nasto for the photo of Congressman Blumenauer's impassioned talk at the luncheon.
